Controller
Description
This role is responsible for accounting and reporting Newspaper Americas results and activities, maintaining a strong internal control system and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Group Financial Procedures and maintain a strong system of internal control, particularly with regards to:
o Subscriptions sales
o Newsstand sales
o Sales commissions
o Month-end accruals
o Credit review process
• Review bad debt provisions and accounts receivable.
• Provide analysis and reporting on overhead departments and the marketing budget.
• Coordinate and prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Manage and monitor the financial and accounting aspects for on-line store and partner commissions and 2nd rights deals
• Resolve queries from sales team members, directors and management.
• Assist with the 5yr sales plan, strategy review, budget and quarterly forecasts.
• Coordinate annual accounts review with external auditors.
• Manage, develop and motivate the staff reporting in to ensure that the US finance team is professional and knowledgeable
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions.
• Deputise for the VP of Finance and Operations, Americas when required
Desired Experience
• 3 years of public accounting and at least 5 years corporate experience at the senior management accountant/ asst. controller level.• Previous publishing experience a plus
• Experience working across the globe and with diversified teams
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and policies

$130,000 to $150,000 plus bonus
