Senior Financial Analyst

Description

Support the business by ensuring that the US management team has all the financial information and analysis they need to grow the business. This will include developing and generating regular and ad hoc reports based on financial and operational data. Develop and monitor operational efficiency strategies and internal controls to better manage a $100m cost budget

Work with the VP of Finance & Operations and the newspaper finance team to prepare the annual budget, current year re-forecasts, and longer-term plans. The plans include income from advertising, subscription and retail sales and expenses from marketing, production, distribution, and overheads. There is an increasing emphasis on managing cash flow. Review and analyze monthly financial and operational achievements against business and program objectives. Prepare accurate monthly forecasts for sales revenues, sales volumes, costs and ultimately contribution. Report on cash flow and operational and financial trends. Assist in the analysis of financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or project a financial probability.

Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis related to projects and/or initiatives. Performs statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported on the various financial systems. Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis. Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business transactions. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
