Staff Accountant
Description
Responsible for day-to-day accounting activities within the Northeast Region in order to ensure that books are closed timely, in accordance with GAAP and without material misstatements. Responsibilities: Perform accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecast analysis for the Region. Perform accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close. Duties will include the recording necessary revenue, expense and balance sheet related journal entries, analysis and adjustment of income statement and balance sheet accounts, reconciliation of general ledger accounts and analysis of financial statements, and general accounting support. Prepare variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast. Work closely with other region staff accountants as necessary to ensure complete accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for designated area of responsibility. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual budget plan as well as the quarterly forecast/reforecast plans conducted throughout the year. Responsible for completing balance sheet flux analysis for the Region. Assist with special projects as requested.
Desired Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting. Big 4 public accounting and CPA certification/MBA is preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good working knowledge of GAAP. Knowledge of accounting software, specifically JD Edwards/PeopleSoft preferred. Proven attention to detail; demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and/or databases. Ability to work independently and as a team member; ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple sources. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Microsoft Certified expert in Excel or PowerPoint preferred

$55,000 to $65,000 plus 22% bonus
