Senior Manager, Accounting Research
Description
Responsible for analyzing complex transactions and newly issued accounting guidance, preparing technical research memos, and assisting in the preparation of the company’s consolidated financial statements.
• Act as a resource to management regarding accounting principles, reporting matters, and financial reporting rules, and take a lead role in the development of technical accounting memos.
• Provide support on special projects and complex technical accounting issues, including: new business acquisitions and divestitures; financing transactions; FIN 46R evaluations; lease accounting; income taxes; and derivatives.
• Manage the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
• Monitor accounting standard setters such as the FASB, EITF, DIG, SEC, and understand current industry accounting and reporting practices that may impact the company and its subsidiaries.
• Upon the issuance of new accounting guidance make recommendations to the Controller of impact the new issuance may have on the company and its subsidiaries.
• Take a lead role in the development of “white papers” which summarize those documents and provide a discussion and analysis as to the impact of such proposed rules and regulations on the financial reporting practices of the company and its subsidiaries.
• Manage CPE training presented by the financial reporting group.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and10-K.
Desired Experience
• Bachelors’ degree in accounting or equivalent, and five to seven years of work experience including a minimum of 3 years public accounting. CPA required.
• In depth working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, SEC reporting rules and regulations, and proficient in the preparation of financial statements.
• Effective communication skills, strong analytic ability, detail orientation, and ability to make independent decisions and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
